Sony releases new G Master full-frame prime lens: FE 50mm F1.4 GM

Sony has officially released the G Master series full-frame prime lens: FE 50mm F1.4 GM (model name: SEL50F14GM). This lens is Sony’s 72nd E-mount lens and 17th G Master lens, which enriches the 50mm focal length options and combines high image quality with lightweight design. With a wide F1.4 aperture, this lens provides excellent image quality, displaying G Master’s outstanding resolution performance and beautiful background blur effect. When paired with Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras, the FE 50mm F1.4 GM is perfect for portraits, landscapes, weddings, and travel photography and videography.

FE 50mm F1.4 GM: Advanced optical design and features

The FE 50mm F1.4 GM features an advanced optical design, including 11 aperture blades to achieve a circular aperture, optimized spherical aberration design for soft and deep defocusing effect, and exceptional resolution at maximum aperture, delivering excellent image quality like other G Master lenses. The F1.4 aperture creates a dreamy and beautiful background blur effect, making the subject stand out from the surroundings and suitable for various shooting styles.

Built-in XA and ED glass elements

With two XA (extreme aspherical) glass elements to correct distortion and aberrations and one ED (extra-low dispersion) glass element to suppress chromatic aberrations, the FE 50mm F1.4 GM achieves outstanding resolution throughout the entire image area. Sony’s original Nano AR Coating II effectively reduces flare and ghosting when shooting against strong light.

Close focusing distance and lightweight design

The FE 50mm F1.4 GM has a close focusing distance of only about 0.41 meters and a maximum magnification of approximately 0.16×1 during autofocus, delivering excellent close-up performance for both photography and videography.
